In the Summer of 2022 we had an idea of looking into a type of “Home Exchange” option so our family could travel the upcoming summer. I transitioned to working in Public Schools starting the fall of 2022 and and Chad works “remote”. We figured why not travel since I will be home in the summer with the boys! After lots of research we ended up finding the Home Exchange Website and we decided to look into it further.
We decided to set up a profile and list our house on the site and within just a month we were contacted about a family wanting to stay at our home while we are away.
How Home Exchange Works.
The Classic Exchange
Two families exchange each others’ homes, whether simultaneously or on different dates. This is called a “reciprocal” exchange. There is a membership fee if you do decide to utilize exchanges.
Exchange with GuestPoints
GuestPoints are the key to an easy exchange. What happens if you find another Member with an available home, but that Member doesn’t want to stay at your home in return? You can offer them GuestPoints that they can use to go stay at another Member’s home in the destination of their choosing! Each Member receives GuestPoints when they sign up and when they host other Members.
Narrowing Down Where to go:
Once our “Exchange” was finalized and we had Guest Points to use we spent the next 5x months narrowing down where we would like to visit this summer!
Why these locations, well in all honestly when I googled Safest and English speaking countries Denmark and Norway are pretty high on the list. Scotland has been on Chads bucket list for awhile.
We hope you enjoy following along for our 43 days of Adventures!
Going to love following you on your adventure. Stay safe and kiss the boys for me.
